On 11 October 2026, Shenzhen LDROBOT Co., Ltd. (LDROBOT) disclosed a voluntary announcement confirming the execution of a cooperation agreement with Huazhong University of Science and Technology to co-develop flexible 3D tactile perception technology for embodied intelligent robots. The initiative seeks to reinforce LDROBOT’s “Physical AI Perception Infrastructure” strategy and broaden its multi-modal sensing portfolio beyond vision into advanced touch capabilities.
Under the agreement, the parties will jointly: 1. Design flexible 3D tactile sensors and high-density perception arrays aimed at improving sensing accuracy and durability in complex operating environments. 2. Create supporting signal-acquisition hardware alongside 3D force-decoupling and tactile-imaging algorithms, providing a full-stack solution from sensor components to array systems. 3. Validate the technology across use-cases involving robotic dexterous hands, robotic arms and other robotic carriers to ensure reliable application performance.
LDROBOT anticipates that the expanded tactile sensing know-how will complement its existing visual perception technologies, enabling future integrated vision-touch solutions for humanoid, collaborative and service robots.
The project is anchored at the State Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing Equipment and Technology, School of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and is led by Professor Li Kan—a recipient of the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas) and a published expert in 3D flexible structures and stretchable electronics.
LDROBOT positions itself as a full-stack intelligent robotics enterprise, offering visual perception products and complete intelligent robotic systems across diverse application scenarios.
