Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in an interview that with the release of the new Muse Wonder model, Meta has caught up with competitors at the AI "frontier."
Zuckerberg added that the new system "will be able to complete far more complex tasks, reaching the frontier level of what is currently possible in the AI field."
Muse Wonder will also adopt a "closed-source" approach, with its most powerful version sold directly to enterprises.
Zuckerberg hinted that Meta will further increase spending, saying the company is "already researching the next phase" of technology and that model development is expected to accelerate significantly.
On the topic of AI safety, Zuckerberg said that the relevant safety responsibilities should be borne by each laboratory itself.
Zuckerberg said: "Rather than the view that anthropomorphizes AI and believes it will act on its own, I am more inclined to believe that AI is a technology that can be engineered with conventional safeguards and developed responsibly."
