Beijing Shougang LanzaTech Technology Co., Ltd. (Shougang LanzaTech) has executed a Cooperation Framework Agreement with Sinopec Research Institute of Petrochemical Processing Co., Ltd. (RIPP) and Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Co., Ltd. (SNEC) to jointly develop an integrated bioethanol-to-sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) value chain.
Under the agreement, the three parties will: • Implement an industrial off-gas-to-ethanol-to-SAF project in Shizuishan, Ningxia, targeting annual SAF output of 50,000 tonnes. • Collaborate on new technologies that convert carbon dioxide into syngas via electrochemical processes, followed by microbial fermentation to produce ethanol. • Extend the green ethanol chain downstream to high-value products such as bio-based ethylene and other bio-based materials.
RIPP contributes proprietary technologies in bioethanol-derived SAF synthesis and CO₂-to-syngas conversion, while SNEC brings extensive engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) capabilities. Shougang LanzaTech will leverage its commercial experience in producing ethanol from industrial off-gas.
Management expects the partnership to broaden feedstock options, expand into high-value green fuels and materials, and support China’s carbon-peaking and carbon-neutrality objectives, particularly in aviation. The company views the collaboration as a strategic step toward accessing both domestic and international green-fuel markets and enhancing long-term shareholder value.
Shareholders and prospective investors are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the company’s H shares.
